How Exeter Chiefs fans are helping make Sandy Park more sustainable

This season, DCW teamed up with Exeter Chiefs to drive forward a shared goal: making Sandy Park cleaner and greener. And thanks to the incredible support and engagement from the fans, we’re already seeing real results.

Sustainability in action at Sandy Park
With the introduction of clearly marked recycling stations around the stadium and new waste segregation initiatives, supporters have stepped up to make a difference, one responsible disposal at a time.

Here’s how we’ve done so far:

  • General waste reduced by 25.75% (Oct 2023 vs Oct 2024)
  • Recycling rate increased by approximately 5%
  • Food waste collections launched to help generate renewable energy at Langage Farm
  • Recycling stations placed in high-traffic areas like food stalls and bar zones, improving visibility and ease of use

These improvements are a direct result of simple actions taken by fans on matchdays. By choosing the right bin, you’re helping to divert more waste from landfill, reduce carbon emissions, and support a circular economy right here in Devon.

Why this matters
Under new food waste legislation and ongoing environmental challenges, it’s never been more important for venues and communities to prioritise sustainability. Our collaboration with the Exeter Chiefs is proof that when businesses, clubs, and fans work together, we can achieve meaningful progress.
