DCW Supports Great British Spring Clean with Teignmouth Beach Clean

This spring, we were proud to take part in the Great British Spring Clean, one of the UK’s biggest and most recognised environmental campaigns, with a beach clean at Teignmouth, Devon. The event brought together members of the DCW team and customers of our parent company SUEZ for a morning of hard work, good company, and a shared commitment to keeping our coastlines clean.

The Great British Spring Clean, run annually by Keep Britain Tidy, encourages volunteers to clean local environments and beaches, and collect data to influence environmental policies. For DCW, taking part felt like a natural fit. As a business built around waste management and resource recovery, supporting initiatives that promote recycling and environmental responsibility is something we care deeply about.

Representing DCW on the day were Brett Sinclair and Christian Gibbs, both Senior Field Sales Executives, along with Barry Tonkins, Driver Supervisor. Joined by Seetec, customers of SUEZ, it was a great way for our businesses to come together around a shared goal.

The team laid out buckets to sort collected material into two streams: general waste and recycling, ensuring that anything that could be diverted from landfill was. That approach, sorting at the point of collection rather than sending everything to general waste, reflects exactly the kind of thinking DCW champions with its customers every day.

At half time, the team was treated to complimentary coffees courtesy of Suzie at Halulu, one of DCW’s longstanding customers. And in what was arguably the highlight of the morning, the team unearthed a £10 note amongst the litter. As the saying goes, it pays to be a Womble!

Brett Sinclair at DCW, said: “Taking part in the Great British Spring Clean is something we’re really proud of. It’s a fantastic way for our team to give back to the community while reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.”

Events like this are a reminder that sustainability isn’t just about what happens inside the business, it’s about showing up for the communities and environments around us.

We’re already looking forward to the next one.
